Mysteries are often so simple... answers right under our noses...
but oh the shock of it all...
A dozen squirrels, several rabbits and a bunch of surly blue jays had disappeared. The old one stood with the jar of peanuts and wondered WHERE? Maybe the peanuts were bad? Maybe someone was killing them. Muttering and grumbling filled the air for several days. The jar of peanuts stood by the door. Life was getting dull.
One early morning the mystery disappeared as four orange kittens bounded across the yard. Playful and energetic was the only way to describe these critters. Behind them, an older wiser looking cat stalked. Her eyes traced every object in the yard as if to dare it to move. Seems they had staked out a claim under the tool shed.
Meanwhile the creatures of the house went into action and grabbed towels and cat carriers and bounded out into the early morning mist. Cornering the young ones was easy. Getting them into a cat carrier was very different matter. Talking the local Humane Society into taking them worse that might ever be imagined.
At this moment, the kittens are in rehab, mother is still at large and some of the blue jays have returned to the bird bath. It will take time for all the survivors to return, but they will. Get the peanuts and they will come!
