We are alive! Sarasota and Tampa were spared. Things to the south and west of us are not so good. I cannot believe the destruction. If you have the Weather Bug you can to to see pictures posted by people like me. We are reconsidering all our safety procedures after this. My daughters were frantic that we didn't evacuate BUT there was no where to go. The people from the islands and shores are moved in first. Then flood areas and house trailers... And we are left to shore up the house as best we can... it was actually too late to run OR WHERE IN THE HECK DO YOU GO? Even the hospitals were in lock down mode until the storm passed.
Schools and work are closed and we must repair and go on. Today the frightening sight of ambulances racing north on the interstate roads as hospitals are evacuated or injured transported remind us that we are not as big as we think we are.
It certainly made me remember The Big Wave by Pearl S. Buck. Somedays the storms in our lives are not caused by natural forces... they should help us learn how to deal with the things out of our control.
