Watching my parents grow old is just a wee bit scary. Being the oldest sibling of their children is sometimes weighty too. This evening was one of those times... I am out in the yard hefting around bags of "yard waste". My hubby is sitting in by a computer while I drag the stuff around. I just can't walk away. Oh, I will pay tomorrow when I have to go to work. At my house I do not have such chores. He takes care of all those things for me and feels someone, who will not be mentioned here, should do the same for my mother. But I watch my mother huffing and struggling and I wonder... who will help me when I want to clean my yard and it could wait or someone else should do it?
The past week has been rough on me in my sentimental old age. I thought my sister was in grave danger. A marriage in our family is breaking up. I am subbing almost full time instead of working in my class room. I have helped my mother compile the book for their 50th High School Class Reunion. The duckies are extra work but so cute. There is that giant water bug they found on the playground... and Windows XP.
Yesssssss... Windows XP. So I have procrastinated. But 98 SE was working fine for me. Until The Laptop. I uh... won a laptop. IT IS SO COOL! But is has Windows XP. Sheeeeeesh... So, now work should be easier, but I am switching programs and downloading drivers. All I want is a short nap. Otay, maybe a long nap.
We also must not forget that is will soon be Marn's YOU KNOW WHAT. Shhhhhhhh! But don't forget that somewhere is a special map that we can all sign before the blessed event in May (22nd). You can sign the map now, but it clears itself every so often... so bookmark it and come back in a few weeks....
