The Phantom wanders down to the courtyard in the moonlight... there is no fire tonight. It is warm and the there is the smell of orange tree blossoms.
She sits on the stone bench and looks at the tree producing the scent. Her mind is not consentrating on the smell that often makes her sneeze.
"It" is over now. Two weeks of pretending not to know what is really happening. Acting relaxed and making excuses while she waited. Arranging meetings and activities that weren't going to happen. Just be normal (heh) and it won't matter when it comes time.
And it didn't.
Pulled off by three sisters who are now grown and their lives have gone different ways... they surprised their parents! Cell phones beeping and excuses for calling each other. White lies to hide the truth. Then acting like one doesn't know WHO would be at the door at this hour in the morning...
You should have seen their faces. WHAT? HOW? WHO CARES?
Now there is a whole week of crushed plans to be replaced by new ones and everyone seems very happy to do this. It is in the change of life that we often find happiness, if we can only look to it as an adventure. Actually, life is an adventure. Just like those we see on TV. We just have to grasp the moment...
